Lasso collects nothing.
Lasso is a drawing layer over your screen. It runs entirely on your Mac, has no account, and never sends anything anywhere.
The app
- No data leaves your Mac. Lasso has no analytics, no crash reporting and no network access of its own. Your drawings exist only on screen and vanish when you press esc.
- Screenshots are yours. When you take one, it is copied to your clipboard and saved to the folder where macOS keeps your screenshots. Nothing is uploaded.
- Permissions. Drawing needs no permissions. Screenshots (and the small page previews in the tab strip) read the pixels on your screen, so they need macOS’s Screen Recording permission. Lasso asks only when you first use them, and works fine without.
- Settings such as your shortcuts and toolbar layout are stored in your macOS user preferences, on your Mac.
This website
- If you sign up for update emails, we keep your email address to send those emails and nothing else. One click unsubscribes.
- The site sets no advertising or tracking cookies.
- We count presses of the download buttons using Convex. Each event records which button was pressed, the app version, a timestamp and a random event ID to prevent duplicate records. We do not attach names, emails, IP addresses or persistent visitor identifiers to these events. These counts measure button presses, rather than unique people or completed installations.
